The  juried exhibition features a captivating collection of 50 canvases created by 25 artists of African-Canadian heritage and builds on the ROM’s commitment of presenting art inspired by cultures from around the world. Produced by the Association of African Canadian Artists and curated by renowned African-Canadian artist and activist Joan Butterfield, the installation will be on display in the Museum’s 3rd floor Centre Block from Thursday July 23rd to Monday August 3, 2009.

The times they are ‘a changin and so is our organization. After some deliberation, the Durham Black Educators Network has established a Constitution and this Spring we will elect our Executive Team. The positions available are:

If you would like to nominate someone for one of these positions, please contact one of the following electoral officers:   Candace Ramdial, Andrea Walters or Alyson van Beinum.  The nomination period will run from June 15th – June 19th, and the Election period (by electronic vote) will take place June 22 – June 29th.  This is your time to get involved!

Professor Solomon was engaged in equity, diversity and social justice works for most of his professional career as an elementary and secondary school teacher, school administrator and university professor.

Professor Solomon maintained strong links to his native Jamaica through the many student exchanges that he organized between York and the University of the West Indies. He was also actively involved with the Toronto chapter of the Mico University College Alumni Association, serving on the board of directors and on the education committee. The TDSB has chosen Chris Spence as their new Director of Education. As the first Black Director of Education in Ontario, he’ll be one to watch.
